| Martin's Railway - Autumn 2007 |
I spent a very pleasant week up in Dumfries back in October, digging and shovelling muck. The engine shed base was laid by Martin's builders, we were both intrigued (actually a little worried, in truth) to see the concrete laid and floated off without the tramway rails which had been welded up with their steel stretchers. Plan was simply to push it in at the last minute. I couldn't see it working myself - however, the builder delicately placed it on and simply pushed it in with a stick. Shows how much I know about concrete.
The engine shed was still under construction when I left - we went down to the joiner's workshop to see progress. It's recently arrived and been installed, currently awaiting the floor tiling - it's starting to look like something from the Ideal Home Exhibition, I think he's planning to move out there in the spring and let the house.
